Katheryn Davis has been drawing and painting
for over 60 years. She has lived in the Florence area since
1978 and has painted full time since 1987. She paints a
variety of subjects, including portraits from live models,
in watercolor, oil, mixed media and collage.
An
impressionistic painter, Kate interprets reality in terms
of the color she sees in light and shadow. She uses bold
brushwork and bright colors to capture the fleeting effects
of light and atmosphere but deliberately plays down detail
to let the viewer's imagination soar. Kate's landscapes
are painted mostly on location. She no longer accepts
commissions.
A
member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon since 1978, she holds their highest competitive and memorial honors.
She
is the recipient of many other awards from several watercolor
societies and individual local and national art shows.
Kate has held over 100 individual and group shows and
has over 1,000 original paintings in private and commercial
collections in the United States and abroad. She is a
member of the Portrait Society Of America
Kate
has taught art workshops in Oregon and California since

Sutton Lake north of Florence. She has led five workshops
to the Greek Isles and has painted on location in Greece,
Portugal, Italy, and Nova Scotia, and at many locations
in the United States.
Kate
is represented by commercial galleries across the United
States and owns Quiet
